The Wizard Presents: District vs. Divide

Buying a new wakeboard can be daunting. We get a lot of people who come into the shop looking to replace their 20 year old wakeboard that they got at a garage sale. The technology is complicated and the boards have come a long way. We are here to help. Today I want to discuss two of our favorite boards in the shop: the Ronix District and the Ronix Vault. Let's dive into it.

THE DISTRICT

The District is a versatile design that will adapt to your riding style.

Ronix 2023 District Wakeboard

The District with its hybrid rocker ranges from smooth/low maintenance turns to wide open high-speed cuts. With fast, predictable takeoffs, to explosive wake to wake jumps, this is a series that truly covers the spectrum. Riders that approach the wake flat into the wake will notice a strong, explosive 3-stage lift. If you approach the wake while on rail you will notice a smooth, blended rocker line with an uninterrupted fast take-off and landing.

This shape is great for intermediate to advanced riders. It will give you more air time. But it's also great for riders who are riding behind a smaller wake in general. The board will boost you higher in the air than a traditional continuous rocker line would

THE VAULT

The Vault is my favorite board to pull off the wall. This is a shape that recognizes your shoulders and hips are not always parallel in wake boarding. The Vault is basically an asymmetrical design, meaning it has a designated heel side and toe tide. The toe side of the board has a longer fin that gives you better traction in the water. Your toe side turn forces your body in an awkward position where your back is facing towards the boat. Having that longer fin in the board helps the board dig in for you so you don't have to.

The Vault also features a removable center fin. This is a great feature for beginners. That extra fin adds extra drag which will slow the board down and stabilize it. It also helps during starts. That fin will grip the water when the boat pulls you forward and turn the board into position. When the rider gains confidence and is comfortable up on the board, removing that fin will make the board more playful for surface 360s and spins.

DISTRICT PACKAGE

There are two boots that we typically will pair with the District. The first is the District boot. The District boot gives you performance and adjustability from a traditional lace boot. It is the perfect balance of comfort, adjustability, and durability. Designed for riders looking for solid support with the option to fit multiple sizes. It's a mid range boot on the stiffness scale. That will help you transfer energy better during tricks. Come try them on at Sun Sports+ and see what you think! An alternative boot is the Divide, which I'll discuss below.

VAULT PACKAGE

Typically, I would pair a Vault wakeboard with a Divide Boot. The Divide is our best selling boot in the store. Time and time again people say it's more comfortable than any other boot I'll put in front of them. For most casual riders, simplicity and ease of use matter way more than riding what the heroes are using. Ronix Divide Wakeboard Bindings are very fast to get in and out of, with a super-comfy yet locked-in feel.

So there you have it!

In summary, if you're a beginner to intermediate rider, or you're trying to get a wakeboard that will fit everyone in the family, I'd suggest going with the Vault / Divide package. If you're an intermediate rider or an advanced rider looking for an intermediate budget, then I'd set you up with the District. Call the store if you have questions at 207-693-3867. We are happy to set up a time for you to come in and try on some boots or check out some more boards that we have in stock! Send us an email at [email protected] if you have more questions or you want to see more pictures of product. Shop online at shop.sunsportsmaine.com. However we can help we will.
